On 23 September 2026, Obayashi Singapore participated in Engineering Green Careers 2026, organised by the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). The programme featured a keynote address by Mr Simon Kuik, Senior Vice President and Head of Sustainability at Seatrium, followed by an alumni panel discussion and networking and speed mentoring sessions. The event connected SIT engineering and technology students with professionals from 12 companies across sectors including the built environment, transportation, power, aviation and maritime.
Obayashi Singapore was represented by SIT alumni Mr Low Woh Ching (Building Engineer) and Mr Koek Zhi Yue (M&E Engineer). Their return to campus gave students a direct view of how an SIT education can lead to a career in construction and engineering.
At our table, the engineers shared Obayashi’s history in Singapore, which began in 1965 with the East Coast Reclamation project. They also presented our building and civil engineering portfolio and showed how technologies such as autonomous tower cranes and 3D printing are improving productivity, safety and sustainability on our worksites.
Seeing our SIT alumni return to inspire the next generation reflects the essence of developing young talent. At Obayashi Singapore, we are committed to providing young engineers with the opportunities and guidance to grow and contribute to a more sustainable Singapore.
