In early October, Obayashi Corporation supported Enterprise Singapore – Northeast Asia & Oceania’s Built Tech Mission to Japan, which brought a curated delegation of Singapore built-tech companies to the Kansai and Kanto regions.
Singapore and Japan face several common challenges, including an ageing population, a shrinking workforce and ageing infrastructure. With these pressures already influencing how the built environment sector plans and delivers projects, the mission focused on how technology and cross-border collaboration can help address them.
From 5 to 9 October, the Singapore delegation met Japanese corporates through a series of curated business-matching sessions, pitching opportunities and networking engagements. These formats were designed to connect companies with relevant partners, explore deployment opportunities and encourage the co-development and localisation of solutions for the Japanese market.
The mission brought together seven Singapore companies offering solutions across areas such as AI-powered construction monitoring, digital field management, infrastructure systems, concrete technology, data-centre cooling and prefabricated MEP systems. Obayashi Singapore has already been working with several of these companies as part of our broader efforts to advance productivity, safety and technology adoption in the built environment.
Through initiatives such as this, we hope to strengthen connections between Singapore and Japan and support the development of practical, scalable solutions that can address shared industry challenges and create lasting partnerships.
