Obayashi Singapore was proud to participate in SICAT (Symposium on Innovation & Challenges in Asian Tunnelling) 2026 as a Gold Sponsor. The SICAT 2026 brought together tunnelling professionals and experts from across the region, together with invited members of the ITA Executive Council, providing a valuable platform for technical exchange and international collaboration.
Representing Obayashi Corporation, Tokyo Head Office, Mr. Takashi Goto and Mr. Jun Sugawara participated as invited speakers and delivered a presentation titled “Automation and Unmanned Face Operation in Mined Tunnelling: Trends in Japan and the OTISM Framework.” Through the presentation, they introduced Obayashi’s initiatives in tunnel automation and unmanned face operation, highlighting advanced technologies aimed at improving construction safety, productivity, and labour efficiency.
Through our participation in SICAT 2026, Obayashi was pleased to share advanced tunnelling technologies and practices from Japan, while exploring how these approaches may be adapted and applied in Singapore and other countries, taking into consideration local conditions and project needs.
