On 4 September 2026, Obayashi Singapore took part in BEngaged@IBEW: Career Compass 2026, held at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre as part of International Built Environment Week (IBEW). The event drew close to 600 students from local universities, polytechnics, ITE, and junior colleges, offering them a platform to engage directly with industry professionals on BE career opportunities.
Obayashi was represented by four engineers spanning different disciplines within the company:
- Ho Chun Seng, Senior Civil Engineer
- Darren Soon Herng, Quantity Surveyor
- Sivaram Vithyatharan, Building Engineer
- Ng Hong Yih, Assistant M&E Engineer
More Than Hard Hats and Blueprints
Together, they gave students a well-rounded view of what a career in construction and the Built Environment sector can look like — spanning civil engineering, quantity surveying, building, and M&E engineering. Their message was clear: construction today is driven by innovation and technology, shaping the spaces that support how Singapore lives, works, and moves. Drawing on their own experiences at Obayashi, our representatives engaged curious students from polytechnics, junior colleges, and universities, offering a genuine, on-the-ground perspective that helped many see the industry in a new light.
