Sustainability
At Obayashi Singapore, we care deeply about our environmental impact, our role in the community, and our responsibility to nurture the next generation. These commitments guide our actions across every project.
Nurturing the Next Generation
We believe in investing in future talent and supporting the development of young professionals in the built environment. Through various initiatives, we aim to inspire, guide, and equip students for meaningful careers in the construction industry.
Engaging Future Talent
We actively participate in campus career fairs across local universities, including National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Institute of Technology. These events allow us to connect with aspiring engineers, share insights into our projects, and introduce students to the many exciting career opportunities at Obayashi. By engaging with students early in their career journey, we hope to inspire the next generation of professionals and support their transition from classroom to construction site.
Offering Scholarships
We provide scholarships to outstanding students from local universities to support their academic journey and encourage excellence in engineering. These scholarships reflect our commitment to developing a strong and capable workforce for the future.
Hosting Industrial Visits
We regularly host industrial visits for undergraduate students from local universities, providing them with firsthand exposure to our project sites. These visits offer practical insights into construction processes and help bridge the gap between academic learning and industry application.
Offering Internships
We offer internship opportunities to undergraduate students, allowing them to gain practical experience and develop essential skills within the construction industry. Our internship programme provides meaningful exposure to various facets of project management, engineering, design, and site operations, preparing students for their future careers.
Supporting Student-led Events
We actively support student-led initiatives that promote learning and collaboration. One example is SUCCEED (Singapore Universities Combined Civil Engineering Engagement Day) – a joint event by the Civil Engineering Clubs of NUS, NTU, and SIT – which we proudly sponsored. The event brought together students, industry professionals, and academia for a day of design competitions, panel discussions, and networking.
Diversity
We embrace a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, believing that a diverse workforce drives creativity, innovation, and better decision-making.
Equity
We are committed to ensuring fair access to opportunities, resources, and advancement for every individual, recognizing and addressing barriers that may stand in the way.
Inclusion
We foster a culture where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute fully—because when people belong, they thrive.
