Two weeks ago, Obayashi had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Woh Hup during their visit to Japan to learn more about developing technologies in Obayashi’s facilities.
The delegation comprised of:
- Dr Pang Sze Dai – Associate Professor, NUS
- Dr Shinya Okuda – Associate Professor, NUS
- Dr Justin Yeoh – Associate Professor, NUS
- Dr Poh Leong Hien – Associate Professor, NUS
- Ms Cong Zhengxia – Senior Technical Director, Woh Hup
Joining the delegation were Obayashi APRHQ General Managers, Mr Yoshiyuki Tsutsui and Ms Loh Hsiao Huey, together with counterparts from Japan HQ.
As part of the visit, Obayashi had the opportunity to showcase a range of facilities, technologies, and innovations that support safer, more sustainable, and productive construction practices.
Over the course of four days, the delegation visited:
Cypress Sunadaya (Ehime) – Obayashi’s consolidated subsidiary since 2023, demonstrating sustainable timber production initiatives aligned with the Obayashi Sustainability Vision 2050.
Technology Research Institute (TRI) – Obayashi’s hub for pioneering R&D in building technologies and home to Japan’s first WELL Certified project.
Sasazuka Project Site – where the delegation observed the application of the LRV installation method on an active residential development project.
Eastern Robotics Centre – showcasing the development and implementation of robotics technologies to enhance safety and productivity on construction sites.
Port Plus (Yokohama) – Japan’s tallest mass engineered timber building, certified LEED Gold and WELL Platinum.
Obayashi sincerely appreciates the opportunity provided by NUS to host the delegation, as well as the support from colleagues at APRHQ and Japan HQ in making this a meaningful and productive exchange.
We look forward to future opportunities to strengthen collaboration and continue driving innovation together.
