At Obayashi Singapore, we believe that growth happens when we invest in people and create opportunities for them to learn from one another. This is the spirit behind the OSPL Mentorship Programme, which was launched in 2023 to facilitate knowledge transfer, skills development, and career guidance across the organization.
This year, the six-month programme officially commenced in August. Prior to the launch, we held a Mentorship Briefing Session on 31 July, where our Deputy COO, Mr Patrick Chia, shared key mentoring dos and don’ts, as well as the competency attributes that will guide the mentoring journey. We also invited mentors from previous programme batches to share their experiences providing valuable insights and practical perspectives for fellow mentors embarking on this year’s journey. In addition, our mentees came together to share their aspirations and expectations, laying the foundation for meaningful mentor-mentee partnerships.
At OSPL, we believe mentorship is more than just sharing knowledge. It is about empowering others, nurturing potential, and creating a ripple effect of growth that strengthens both individuals and the organization. Effective mentorship is also a two-way learning journey. While mentees benefit from guidance and support, mentors gain fresh perspectives, develop their leadership capabilities, and deepen their understanding by listening, asking questions, and encouraging mentees to think critically. By investing in mentorship, we cultivate future leaders who will, in turn, inspire, guide, and develop others.
We look forward to the meaningful connections, valuable learning experiences, and inspiring growth stories that will emerge from this year’s mentorship journey.
